For students to be successful in using technology educators must take a step-by-step approach. Over the course of the school year I have gradually introduced various presentation tools. In a collaborative effort with our schools' LTE, we organized whole group lessons on the use of email, Taxedo, Prezi, Woordle,Power Point, and Excel (basic.) We also modeled the proper way to research information via our school's website and cite information correctly.

Intial lessons were completed over the course of two weeks during the first quarter of school. During second quarter the students put their knowledge of technology into action by completing a research project. Attached to the wiki is the first quarter project sample. This project required research and application guidance. During third and fourth quarter students were given a topic to research, a rubric, and were allowed to complete a technology piece. The students took ownership of their learning by collaborating in small groups and needed minimal teacher guidance.

The goal is to provide hands on experiences as well as final projects that reflect the students' insight and pride.

Bringing technology into our literature circles has greatly enhanced student learning. It provides a high level of student engagement and even the shy students began to feel comfortable with participation.
